The Chalet

Jumoku House is a recently renovated (2023), high-grade luxury chalet in the beautiful village of Hakuba, Nagano — a world-class ski destination and home to the 1998 Winter Olympics. The chalet was originally built by a snowboard manufacturer, with no expense spared to pamper its sponsored riders.  The result is a solid, stylish and characterful property providing generous accommodation for up to 10 guests.  

Extending over two floors, this spacious chalet has two double bedrooms and a large family/kids room with four bunk beds and a double bed, allowing 10 guests to be accommodated in total.  There are three bathrooms – two en-suite to the double bedrooms and further facilities for the bunk-room.  The kitchen and bathroom areas are beautifully fitted, and the chalet has its own onsen mineral bath — a rare luxury.

Jumoku House is located in Misorano, a few minutes walk from buzzing Echoland with its numerous coffee shops, restaurants and shops. Free shuttle buses to all the ski slopes in the area will pick you up just a few minutes’ walk from the chalet, giving you complete freedom to explore all the major resorts in the Hakuba valley during your stay. There is also ample private parking outside the chalet.   

Spacious living areas

The huge living/dining/kitchen area covers the whole second floor, opening on to the picturesque surrounding forest - lusciously green in summer, sparkling white in winter, and deep orange in the autumn.  Dramatically high-beamed ceilings and large windows on three sides add to this impressive space.  There’s room for everyone to spread out so it’s great for relaxing after a day on the slopes or as a place for non-skiers to chill out for the day. The house is equipped with double-glazing and central heating throughout, putting a stop to nasty drafts and giving it an extra-cosy feel.  

The attractive state-of-the-art red and stainless steel kitchen is newly-fitted and fully-equipped including dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. There is a casual family dining area next to the kitchen, as well as a large more formal dining table next to the huge windows at the front of the house.

You will find everything you need to make your stay comfortable.  Enjoy the latest movies and TV shows on the flat screen TV using the Apple TV, or listen to some tunes on the wireless Bose speaker while you play on the Foosball table. The chalet is also fully wired with blazing-fast broadband internet and WiFi connections.

Stylish bedrooms

The chalet has three bedrooms, all on the ground floor.

BEDROOM 1 (DOUBLE)

Located at the front of the house, this bedroom has a queen size bed that can be separated into two singles, and plenty of built-in storage space. There is an en-suite shower room and separate en suite toilet, all finished to an exceptional standard.

BEDROOM 2 (KING/twin)

Located at the back of the house, bedroom 2 has a king bed that can be separated into two single beds for maximum flexibility. Again, there is plenty of built-in storage space. This room also has an ensuite shower and toilet.

BEDROOM 3 (bunk room)

The bunk-room boasts solid built-in wooden beds, perfect for adults or kids, each with its own personal storage space.  There is an adjoining TV/games area that allows the bunk-room to double as a second entertainment area or children's getaway so the adults can unwind with après-ski drinks.  There is also an additional double bed, sleeping a total of 6 people in this room.

Beautiful Bathrooms and YOUR OWN PRIVATE ONSEN

Jumoku House features three bathrooms, two separate toilets, and its own onsen mineral bath. The two double/twin bedrooms both have en-suite bathrooms with showers, wash basins, and toilets. For those using the bunk-room, there is a separate shower room and toilet just next door.

A unique feature of the house is its own onsen on the ground floor. This is a Japanese style ‘always hot’ mineral bath which has been renovated to Western tastes.  After a hard day on the slopes, two or three people can soak in a hot bath and gaze through the large (one-way glass!) windows into the snowy forest. There's no need to go out to the onsen in town, but there are a couple within walking distance if you'd like to.

PRACTICALITIES

There is a storage and drying room which is directly accessible from both inside and outside and can be used for storage of ski gear, bicycles or other outdoor equipment. There is also a fully-equipped laundry room with washer, dryer and hanging space.

Location

Jumoku House is located in Misorano Forest, just a few minutes walk from the dining and entertainment hub of Echoland. Free shuttle buses to all of the main resorts in the area pick up close to the house — just 3 minutes walk, or 300 meters away. From there you can take buses to Hakuba Goryu (both Escal Plaza and Iimori rest houses), Hakuba 47, Happo-one, and Iwatake resorts — giving you great flexibility to explore all of what Hakuba has to offer.
